Barcelona have reportedly asked Chelsea about the availability of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

This is according to ESPN, who claim the Spanish side are interested in the forward pairing.

Both players have been caught up in quite a few transfer speculations ahead of the January window.

Marca suggested at the beginning of the month that Barca wanted to land Werner on loan.

Ziyech meanwhile is apparently wanted by the Camp Nou’s hierarchy and Borussia Dortmund.

Woes for Werner and Ziyech

The duo have admittedly struggled since they arrived at Stamford Bridge last year.

Recruited by Frank Lampard, they are still trying to find their feet under Thomas Tuchel.

Although Werner finished as Chelsea’s joint top scorer last season, the number of missed chances often overlooked his offensive output.

Ziyech, meanwhile, still looks a shade of the star signed from Ajax, who managed nine goals and 20 assists during his farewell campaign with the Dutch team.

This term, the Moroccan international has managed just two goals and two assists.

Werner is one behind with two goals and one assist, taking their combined total up to seven.

A pretty poor output considering the quality they undoubtedly possess.

Barca keeping watch

Admittedly, Werner has missed the last six matches through injury, whilst Ziyech rarely starts in the Premier League.

But there is still uncertainty surrounding their futures due to a lack of game time.

Hence why Barca are sniffing around the Champions League holders, as Xavi looks to rebuild his beloved club.

ESPN say the Spaniard’s will target individuals who are not regulars in their respective squads.

A category that Werner and Ziyech currently both fall into.
