Liverpool could reportedly make a last-minute move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

According to the Daily Mail, Gallagher is one the list of midfielders the Anfield chain of command could try and sign on deadline day.

The England international has already been linked with a transfer to Merseyside this month.

Yesterday, Everton submitted a £45m bid for the Chelsea academy graduate.

Although the Blues actually value Gallagher slightly below this figure at around £40m, they have yet to accept the approach from the Toffees.

The player himself is said to be unconvinced by Everton’s efforts.

If he is to leave his boyhood club today, the 22-year-old only has eyes for a top-six Premier League side.

Chelsea certainly cannot offer him that right now, but neither can Liverpool, who are level on points with Graham Potter’s team.

Yet, Jurgen Klopp is certainly in the market for a new midfielder, and might tempt Gallagher with the prospect of regular starts.

Before the draw between the Blues and the Reds ten days ago, the former Crystal Palace loanee had only started once in the league since the World Cup.

Klopp is also a fan of Chelsea’s number 23, having previously described him as ‘really good’ last August.

Could Conor go from blue to red in the blink of an eye?
