Report: ‘Terrific’ player’s asking price slashed by £25m, with Chelsea said to be keen to sign him

Reports have claimed that Brighton have slashed their asking price for Chelsea target Moises Caicedo.

According to The Mirror, the fee the Blues would have to pay has dropped by around £25m for any club to take the midfielder off the Premier League side’s hands.

The 21-year-old has established himself as a crucial member of the Brighton side who sit above Chelsea in the Premier League right now.

He has previously been described as ‘terrific’ by South American football expert Tim Vickery, and his importance to Roberto de Zerbi’s side was on display when they were dominated in midfield by runaway leaders Arsenal.

His Premier League career began at the hands of current Chelsea manager Graham Potter, with the former Brighton man a massive fan of the young midfielder.

Caicedo price drops

Reports have claimed that the Blues are weighing up making a move for the Ecuador international, with them searching far and wide for midfield reinforcements.

It has also been claimed that now the hunt for Enzo Fernandez appears to be off the table, the club are set to prioritise the signing of the Brighton man instead.

Now, the Mirror have claimed that they are no longer having to spend around £85m to get a deal done either.

There is potential that the Blues are going to be facing a midfield exodus when the current campaign comes to an end.

Both Jorginho and N’golo Kante currently both have contracts that are set to expire at the end of the season, with there being no assurances from either that they will stay any longer.

There is currently more belief that the Frenchman is more likely to carry on at Stamford Bridge, although reinforcements will surely be needed whether one or neither stays at the club.
