There’s now a ‘growing chance’ that Premier League club submit bid to sign 23-year-old Chelsea player

Tottenham may soon be encouraged to launch a bid to sign Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.

That is according to journalist Dean Jones.

Conor Gallagher, 23, has been a key player in the Blues line-up this season, but that’s not prevented frequent transfer rumours about his potential exit. With his current deal at Stamford Bridge expiring in 2025, there’s a lot of eyes on him.

Football.London reported earlier this week that some members of the Chelsea hierarchy believe it makes sense to sell Gallagher in January.

Our preference would be for the all-action midfielder to be handed a new contract, though!

Dean Jones has reported that there’s a “growing chance” of seeing Tottenham submit an offer for Gallagher.

When discussing Gallagher’s situation, Jones told GiveMeSport: “Tottenham need to test the waters first to discover whether it’s even worth making a bid. I don’t think Tottenham will make a bid unless they understand that Chelsea are open-minded about selling him. We’re now getting into the late stages of the transfer window, and this was the point at which Tottenham would always find out just how much intent there was for Chelsea to sell.

“Tottenham are surprised that this one has been able to linger on. They thought a contract would be signed by now, and he’d be out of reach. But it hasn’t happened, and because of that, I think there is a growing chance that they will go and put a bid in for Gallagher. But we should understand that if that bid goes in, it means that there have been intermediaries testing it out to see whether he is gettable.”

Tottenham could bid for Conor Gallagher

Previously, The Independent’s suggested that Chelsea may sell Gallagher if a potential buyer offers their £50 million asking price.

There’s less than two weeks left to go now in the January window, so we’re wondering if there’s a late twist in this Gallagher saga.

Yes, his sale would bring in great financial reward on the balance sheets. It would be appalling to let go such a key player in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

For what it’s worth, Gallagher would fit in like a glove for Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs outfit. But let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.
