Todd Boehly could be about to transform Chelsea’s team for the next decade if double swoop happens – opinion

Chelsea are rumoured to be interested in a sensational midfield double swoop of Enzo Fernandez and Declan Rice.

The Blues are reportedly pushing hard to bring in the Argentina international in particular, with an effort to bring in the youngster before any of their Premier League rivals get the chance to.

His sensational World Cup campaign will have certainly appealed to a number of elite sides, who will have noticed his tackling ability in particular as a real strength.

It has been widely reported that the Blues are seriously considering triggering the 21-year-old’s release clause due to Benfica’s reported unwillingness to let him go midway through the season.

In their hunt to bring in the midfielder before any of their rivals, they are looking to get a deal confirmed when the transfer window opens in just a couple of days.

Despite just the short audition of one international tournament under his belt, he has already shown a number of traits that suggest he will excel in the Premier League.

With Chelsea potentially looking to completely revitalise their midfield in the next couple of seasons, it may be the case of a double swoop required at Stamford Bridge.

Declan Rice has been a reported long-term target of the club after they let him go as an academy graduate.

He has recently been seen also excelling at the World Cup, although he was perhaps slightly overshadowed by fellow reported Chelsea target Jude Bellingham.

The West Ham United man has a well-known strong relationship with current Blue Mason Mount, and the pair featured together for their country in Qatar.

The addition of these two midfielders would undoubtedly see the Blues stay on par with their rival sides at the top of the league, although recent reports have claimed both N’golo Kante and Jorginho may not be on the move yet.
