Tottenham have now joined Chelsea in the race to sign Gabri Veiga – a player Mauricio Pochettino has asked to have at Stamford Bridge.
That is according to le10sport in France.
So, what is the latest on Chelsea target Gabri Veiga? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, it was the Guardian who claimed that Pochettino has asked Todd Boehly to sign the Spain Under-21 international this summer, who has a £34m release clause.
Now, however, Chelsea face competition from London rivals Tottenham for the player Carlo Ancelotti called “quality” – as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
The story from le10sport states that PSG are no longer in contention to sign Veiga, despite a recent claim from Foot Mercato which stated that the French giants were closing in on the Celta Vigo No.24’s signature.

While it is a positive for Chelsea that PSG are out of the picture, Tottenham – as well as Arsenal – are now said to be pushing hard for the Spaniard’s services.
Le10sport add that Veiga seems destined to move to England this summer, after an outstanding 2022/23 campaign in which he scored 11 goals in 36 La Liga appearances.
Forget Tottenham – Chelsea must hope Arsenal do not bid for Veiga
In our view, Arsenal are the ones to worry about here.
The Gunners can offer Veiga Champions League football next season, and also the chance to compete for the Premier League title.
However – at Tottenham and Chelsea – there is no European football on the schedule for Veiga, so the Blues stand a good chance of beating Spurs to his signature if it comes down to a two-horse race.

Chelsea’s current focus on trusting inexperienced talent, and Pochettino’s ability to develop youngsters, should be attractive to the attacking midfielder.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Chelsea attempt to fend off two London rivals in order to hand Pochettino the 21-year-old prodigy he has requested.
