RB Leipzig’s sporting director has seemingly slashed the possibility of Josko Gvardiol joining Chelsea this year.
In an interview with Sky Sports Germany, Max Eberl confidently announced his feelings towards the young centre-back’s future at the club.
Gvardiol’s position at Leipzig has come under heavy scrutiny, ever since he announced himself to the globe at the World Cup.
The 20-year-old played an influential role in Croatia’s run to the semi-final and subsequent third place finish.

He started all of his nation’s matches, and even scored in the third-place playoff meeting with Morocco.
His performances earned the applause of almost every pundit that watched him in full flight.
Chelsea were evidently similarly impressed, as they reportedly set about trying to sign Gvardiol before the January window had even opened.
It’s gone a little quiet on the transfer to Stamford Bridge front following his final actions in Qatar, however.
Things could become even more silent thanks to Eberl’s admission about the defender.
“Thanks to the contract extension with Josko, we are in control — the club has done an outstanding job,” said the Leipzig chief.

“Football has gone crazy, but our interest is zero that we want to sell Josko Gvardiol in the summer”.
Gvardiol penned a new deal in September, tying him to the Bundesliga side until 2027.
This made any potential move to Chelsea a difficult and expensive one.
Todd Boehly might not have given up the chase for the Croatian international, but the fact he recently recruited Benoit Badiashile suggests he is slowing down the pursuit.
