West Ham boss Graham Potter could yet make a transfer raid on former club Chelsea before the January transfer window closes.
Graham Potter, who was sacked by Chelsea in 2023, only lasted seven months in charge. Finally, he’s back in football management after being appointed as West Ham’s head coach earlier in January.
He picked up his first win with the Hammers in yesterday’s Premier League victory at home to Fulham. Interestingly, Potter will return to the Chelsea dugout when West Ham travel to Stamford Bridge on 3 February for a league showdown.

West Ham could swoop for Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
According to Sky Sports, West Ham could yet make a move in the current transfer window to sign Chelsea’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
It is explained that Premier League side West Ham are prioritising loan deals this month because they splashed more than £100m on new signings last summer.
Dewsbury-Hall, 26, is going through a difficult debut season in Chelsea colours.
Even though he worked under Blues head coach Enzo Maresca at Leicester City, he’s struggled for minutes in West London. In fact, the central midfielder hasn’t started a single Premier League game in his 15 appearances across all competitions.
It’s worth noting that Maresca claims he wants to keep Dewsbury-Hall at Chelsea this month. He recently said: “For sure, he (Dewsbury-Hall) has a future with us. Also, because, when you want to send players on loan, it has to be from all the sides; the players, the club and the manager. It is not just about what I want.”
Maresca didn’t feel that Chelsea needed to sign Dewsbury-Hall last summer, but it sounds like he thinks there’s a place for him in the squad moving forward.

Do Chelsea need Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall?
Now that Chelsea have been firmly sucked into a top-four race in the Premier League, it means that there could be extra stress on the squad in the cup competitions.
We’d expect the Blues to go the distance in the Conference League when it resumes for them in March. Therefore, individuals such as Dewsbury-Hall could actually be quite useful and important in the months ahead.
In the role that Enzo Fernandez excels in for Chelsea, which is as a central midfielder with a license to roam forward, Dewsbury-Hall does have the capabilities to cover him.
Pat Nevin thinks Chelsea’s Dewsbury-Hall is a “super” player who deserves some more chances. Let’s wait and see if West Ham decide to ramp up their interest in him before the transfer window shuts, though.
