What Chelsea plan to do in order to land Marc Guehi this month – it’s bad news for £39m man

It looks like Chelsea have a plan to re-sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this month.

Marc Guehi will not come cheap. He is one of Crystal Palace’s key players while it is the middle of the season.

However, Chelsea may have found a way to raise the necessary funds to land the central defender during this transfer window.

Alternatively, Chelsea could also cancel Trevoh Chalobah’s loan and add him to their first-team squad to ease their problems in defence.

Chelsea could offload Axel Disasi and other players to fund Marc Guehi move

Axel Disasi and several other Chelsea players could be sacrificed in order for the Blues to bring Guehi back to Stamford Bridge this month.

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea could sanction a host of sales to raise money for a potential Guehi deal and Disasi is one of those players who could be offloaded.

The 26-year-old has only made five appearances in the Premier League this season, so he may want to leave.

But if not, then the above is obviously bad news for him. Disasi was linked to Bayern Munich in December, but things have gone quiet since then. He cost Chelsea £38.8m when he joined from AS Monaco in 2023.

What Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said about Axel Disasi when he joined Chelsea

If Disasi is to leave Chelsea this month, the club’s co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley are likely to be quite disappointed.

This is only his second season at Stamford Bridge and they had high hopes for him when he joined the Blues.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official website upon Disasi’s arrival, Stewart and Winstanley said: “Axel has showcased his quality over several seasons in France and that has deservedly led to recognition on the international stage.

“He is ready to take the next step in his career and we are delighted that will be with Chelsea. We welcome him to the club and look forward to him joining up with Mauricio Pochettino and his new teammates in the days ahead.”

He has really struggled under Enzo Maresca, though, who has preferred a central defensive partnership of Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana.

Even with the latter out injured, Disasi has still found it difficult to get game time in the middle of Chelsea’s backline. Maybe the Frenchman departing and Guehi arriving, then, would be best for everyone.
