Napoli striker Victor Osimhen reportedly wants to join Chelsea, but a deal will not be straightforward for the Blues.

Chelsea will try to do more business on the final day of this transfer window, with a No.9 at the top of their list.

Chelsea and Osimhen are in talks right now as the club try to bring him to Stamford Bridge before the market shuts tonight.

However, his wages and rival interest from Al-Ahli have not made this a simple pursuit for the Blues.

Victor Osimhen wants to join Chelsea

The good news for Chelsea is that Osimhen appears to be keen on a move to west London. Now it is just about coming to an agreement with Napoli and the player himself.

According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, while the 25-year-old is more than open to joining Enzo Maresca‘s side, he wants Chelsea to make him a fresh offer.

In a post shared on X, Hawkins said: “Victor Osimhen waiting for a new offer from Chelsea. The striker wants to join the Blues but he will not cut his salary.”

Chelsea could also sign Jadon Sancho before tonight’s deadline amid interest in the Manchester United winger.

Victor Osimhen should accept Chelsea’s next offer

Whatever Chelsea’s next proposal is, Osimhen should give serious consideration to accepting it.

The Nigerian is still only 25 and is one of the best centre-forwards in Europe. It was only last year when he was able to help Napoli win the Serie A title after scoring 26 goals in 32 outings.

Simply put, it is too early for him to go to Saudi Arabia. If that is the path he wants to go down, though, then Chelsea do have alternatives.

Chelsea could make a bid for Ivan Toney should they not be able to lure Osimhen to west London.

Toney is yet to play a game for Brentford this season amid all of the speculation surrounding his future. The 28-year-old was only able to score four league goals last term, though he did miss half of the campaign because of an eight-month ban.
