The Xavi Simons to Chelsea links aren’t going away this summer as the Blues continue to push through with a potential deal for the star.
Chelsea’s summer window has been relatively calm when compared to previous seasons with the current ownership.
The Blues have bolstered their attacking ranks with the likes of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens, but there is a feeling around the Bridge that more business needs to be done in the forward areas.
One name that continues to pop up is RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons. The club have reached no concrete agreement as of yet, but talks with both the club and the player are believed to be in the ‘advanced’ stages.
Reports suggest Simons is keen on a move to Chelsea, and his talents would certainly be a welcome addition to the side. But the 22-year-old’s ability isn’t the only thing that should excite fans.

Xavi Simons continues training amid Chelsea transfer links
Despite links away from Germany, Simons has continued to train and play with the first team, showing no signs of dropping his head or checking out mentally.
A report from BILD claims the Dutchman is in tip-top shape, and it’s business as usual at Leipzig’s training ground:
“At the camp in Donaueschingen, you wouldn’t notice at all that the Dutchman actually wanted to leave long ago. Xavi is acting professionally as always, and is in top shape thanks to extra shifts during his vacation.”
Simons, who managed 17 goal involvements in 25 league appearances last season, is immensely talented for such a young age, but as we have seen with recent moves to Stamford Bridge, talent alone doesn’t guarantee success.
Seeing the versatile forward committing to the team and putting in the extra work bodes well, should a move to the Blues materialise.
Xavi Simons to Chelsea transfer latest amid Arsenal and Inter Milan links
According to the latest updates from Fabrizio Romano on Xavi Simons, things are moving well, but Chelsea are not alone in their admiration of the Dutch international.
Arsenal have also shown some interest, though it looks like Eberechi Eze will be the priority in the final weeks of the window. It’s a similar situation for Inter, who have their eye on Simons but only as a backup plan should their pursuit of Ademola Lookman fall through.
Bayern were long believed to be the likely destination for the 22-year-old, though Luis Diaz is the player they want now. A return to Barcelona was flirted with at points this summer, though their financial situation makes this near impossible.
All said, Chelsea are in a good position in the race for one of Europe’s most promising young talents. They can negotiate from a position of strength, for a player they know is interested in joining.
While the attacking signings have been great so far this summer, a move for Simons may take the cake.
