Victor Osimhen has been linked with Chelsea for over a year but he could finally move to West London on deadline day.
The Blues have been looking to sign a striker all window but potential deals for Ivan Toney, Samu Omorodion, Jhon Duran and more have fallen through.
However, with just hours left until the deadline, it now looks like Enzo Maresca’s side could be welcoming Osimhen to Stamford Bridge very soon.
Here is why the Napoli striker would be an excellent addition to Chelsea’s squad.

Why Chelsea want to sign Victor Osimhen on deadline day
Victor Osimhen age
Chelsea have prioritised signing young players under their new ownership. This makes sense from a financial perspective as they should hold their value for around a decade.
The issue with this is that they now have an extremely inexperienced squad who, for the most part, do not know what it takes to win big games, let alone trophies.
For this reason, Osimhen is the perfect age for the Blues’ ongoing project. At 25, he is not someone that will decline in the near future. Yet, he would also arrive with four years of experience in Serie A and a title to his name.
Victor Osimhen stats
Osimhen’s stats for Napoli are really impressive. He signed from Lille in the summer of 2020 and scored 10 league goals in his debut season.
He followed that up with 14 goals in the 2021-22 Serie A campaign and then took his game to another level with an outstanding 26 league goals in the 2022-23 season.
The Nigerian even found the back of the net 15 times in 25 games last season in what was described as an underachievement.
Victor Osimhen transfer value
Osimhen is worth £84 million, according to Transfermarkt. So, one could assume that Napoli are asking Chelsea to fork out close to £100m to sign their main man.
Luckily for the West London club, that is not the case. Napoli, who just signed Romelu Lukaku for £25m, are open to selling Osimhen for closer to £50m – potentially as an obligation to buy after a season-long loan deal.
This would represent excellent business for Chelsea – who are often heavily criticised for paying over the odds for new signings.
