Why some figures inside Inter Milan are sceptical about signing Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea

Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku has been linked with several top European clubs this summer, including Inter Milan.

It has been reported that Inter have held talks over signing Nkunku from Chelsea, but it appears that some members of their hierarchy have concerns about the 27-year-old.

Nkunku may be forced to leave Stamford Bridge if the Blues manage to finalise a deal for Xavi Simons.

After another summer of heavy spending, Chelsea will want to make money back, while Simons’ arrival is likely to impact Nkunku’s game time.

Christopher Nkunku’s injury record a concern for some at Inter Milan

Inter fans are worried about Nkunku’s injury record, and they are not the only ones by the looks of it.

According to TEAMtalk, while some within at Inter are open to the idea of bringing Nkunku to the San Siro, others are sceptical about it because of the amount of injuries he has picked up.

Fortunately for the Frenchman if he does want to leave west London during this transfer window, Inter may not be his only possible option.

Borussia Dortmund reportedly hold an interest in Nkunku as well, and a move there would not be bad for him.

Nkunku had great success in Germany when he was at RB Leipzig. A return to the Bundesliga may help him to revive his career.

How many games has Christopher Nkunku missed because of injury since joining Chelsea?

Inter’s concerns are understandable, but Nkunku actually managed to play a lot of games last season. A small knock, which ruled him out of action for about a month, was the only real issue he had.

The problem is his injury record from the season before, where Nkunku missed 54 matches in total, including international fixtures.

If Inter are willing to look past that, then a transfer seems very possible. However, it does not look as though some at the club currently are.

During the 2024/25 campaign, though, Nkunku did prove that he can stay fit, so the former Leipzig man should not be written off.
