Chelsea have major problem with Jadon Sancho, one of his stats is really shocking

Jadon Sancho was able to make an instant impact when he arrived at Chelsea from Manchester United last summer.

In his first three games for Chelsea, Jadon Sancho managed to register three assists.

Since then, the assists have started to dry up for the winger, but that should not be Enzo Maresca‘s biggest concern.

Despite his inconsistency this season, Chelsea are still backing Sancho to become a “superstar”.

Jadon Sancho’s xG is abysmal

In 18 appearances this term, Sancho has only managed to score two goals in the Premier League.

The above does not come as a surprise when you look at the 24-year-old’s xG. According to WhoScored, Sancho has an xG of just 1.71.

It shows that the Englishman is not testing the goalkeeper frequently enough, which is problematic given that he is an attacking player.

Sancho is only averaging 0.9 shots per game. That is simply not enough, especially considering what he is capable of.

The second of his only two goals this season, which came against Tottenham Hotspur in December, was excellent, while the England international posed a real threat to keepers during his time at Borussia Dortmund. He finished his spell there with 53 goals in 158 appearances.

John Obi Mikel was quite critical of Sancho after Chelsea’s 2-1 win against West Ham United, and it is easy to see why.

Enzo Maresca’s warning to Jadon Sancho

Maresca has already warned Sancho that he needs to start scoring more goals.

Maresca spoke about Sancho and Pedro Neto before Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers last month and said: “Probably in terms of wingers we can score more goals for the amount of times that we arrive and put our wingers in positions one-v-one in the box, like Pedro and Jadon. Hopefully they can start soon to score goals.”

Overall, Sancho has still been a good addition to this Chelsea squad. The former Dortmund star only arrived at Stamford Bridge on an initial loan deal, and at the start of the season, he showed that he can be a source of creativity.

But Sancho needs to start adding more goals to his game if he is to go down as a success in west London.
