Chelsea may have just found their new Eden Hazard after £84m transfer target’s very impressive stat

Chelsea legend Eden Hazard is one of the greatest players in the club’s history.

Possessing so much talent, Chelsea are actually yet to successfully replace Eden Hazard on the left wing despite the Belgian leaving the club nearly six years ago.

Cole Palmer is matching his influence from a more central position on the pitch, though his form has dipped of late. Former Arsenal star and Chelsea supporter Paul Merson has put Palmer’s recent struggles down to Nicolas Jackson and his absence.

The Blues, though, could be about to sign a winger who is proving to be very similar to Hazard in one area.

Chelsea trying to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund

Chelsea wanted to bring in another left winger during the January transfer window but failed to in the end.

It is a position that they could still strengthen in the summer, however, with it being claimed that Chelsea are working on a deal for Jamie Gittens.

It is thought that Borussia Dortmund want £84m for Gittens, which is a lot of money, especially for a 20-year-old.

But one of his stats from the current campaign suggests the England U21 international has the potential to be as threatening on the flank as Hazard.

Jamie Gittens has completed over 70 dribbles this season

When he was in the Premier League, Hazard was the best dribbler in the division. The ex-Belgium international could get past any defender and often with ease.

Gittens is probably not at that level yet, but his dribbling stats are very promising.

According to WhoScored, only Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal (77) has recorded more dribbles than Gittens (73) in Europe’s top five leagues this term.

Gittens just needs to increase his output now, which you would expect him to do as he grows older. Do that, and Chelsea really could have another Hazard on their hands if they do go on to sign the Dortmund star this summer.

Chelsea fans have not been impressed with Alejandro Garnacho, another winger who is thought to be on the Blues’ radar, so you suspect that they would rather the club buy Gittens.
