Chelsea are going into the second international break of the season sitting in the top four of the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca has not seen his side lose in the Premier League since the opening day of the season, and is managing a strong, competitive squad very well up to now.

He has stayed loyal to a number of the players who are in his Premier League XI at the moment, with him keeping the faith in Noni Madueke despite competition for his place.

That was repaid with the winger’s performance yesterday, with him dragging the Blues back into the game against Nottingham Forest.

With Chelsea facing 10 men in the final few minutes, they sent on their attacking reinforcements to push for a goal, with one of those being Mykhailo Mudryk.

Mykhailo Mudryk improving under Enzo Maresca

The Ukraine international looked really dangerous in his cameo, providing a brilliant cross that Christopher Nkunku really should have converted.

Mudryk has no doubt been a divisive figure since joining the club, and that has continued under the new manager.

Maresca has not hidden his annoyance at the winger at times this season. He was also described as ‘frustrating’ during his first full season at the club.

Mudryk playing for his Chelsea future

After reports that Mudryk was playing for his future this season, it is fair to say that his performances have drastically improved in recent weeks.

He has registered an assist in each of his last two starts in all competitions, and opportunities are going to continue to come for him to feature with the plethora of games that are coming their way.

Jadon Sancho has held down the left-wing position since he joined the club on deadline day, however Mudryk is no doubt beginning to push him to perform at his best in order to keep him out of the side at this stage.
