Chelsea’s first-team player shared his long-term goal of being called up to his national team for the first time ever when he made the move to Stamford Bridge.
However, we fear that his dream is now even further away than when he joined.
The Chelsea squad is pretty competitive this season, which is why many individuals are struggling for regular minutes. In fact, it led to the likes of Joao Felix, Renato Veiga and Ben Chilwell leaving Stamford Bridge on loan in the recent January transfer window.
The next pause in the club calendar is for March’s international break, when we expect many Blues stars to join up with their respective countries.
Now that former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is in the England dugout, there’s some extra intrigue on the Three Lions camp. Speaking back in December, England manager Tuchel raved about Chelsea’s Cole Palmer.

Chelsea player is further away from representing his country than when he joined
Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, 26, has never represented England at any age level.
When he completed his £30m transfer from Leicester City to Chelsea in the summer of 2024, many may have thought it increased his chances of receiving international recognition.
Back in July 2024, Dewsbury-Hall shared his England aspirations after joining Chelsea. He said: “I have always dreamt of playing for England. I have my aims for Chelsea, of course – winning trophies and playing well – but hopefully side by side with that, if it can get me in contention, it would be a dream.”
Dewsbury-Hall’s stock was at an all-time high after a brilliant 2023/24 campaign in Leicester colours, playing a major role in them winning the Championship title. He scored 12 goals and created 14 assists from central midfield in the league-winning season.
At that moment in time, it would’ve been fair for the Englishman to be in the conversation for a first international call-up.
However, we now feel like that the player’s England dream is currently further away than when he first joined Chelsea because of his quiet impact so far in West London.
| Competition | Appearances | Starts |
| Premier League | 7 | 1 |
| Conference League | 6 | 5 |
| Conference League qualifiers | 2 | 2 |
| Carabao Cup | 2 | 2 |
| FA Cup | 1 | 1 |

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was tipped to leave Chelsea
It’s quite telling that Dewsbury-Hall was linked with a potential Chelsea exit in January just a few months into his Blues career.
West Ham eyed a move for Chelsea’s Dewsbury-Hall in January. Meanwhile, Chelsea offered Everton the chance to sign Dewsbury-Hall.
Eventually, the 26-year-old’s stayed put in the Blues squad, so let’s see if he can kick on and play a bigger role in the remainder of the season.
We’re wondering if he can carve out a long-term future at the club, especially because midfield star Andrey Santos will be returning from his season-long loan at Strasbourg in the summer.
If Dewsbury-Hall wants to keep his England dream alive, he needs to try prove he can compete and make an impact at Chelsea in the next few months.
