Joao Felix’s return to Chelsea has, simply put, turned out to be a disaster as the forward closes in on a temporary move to AC Milan.
Joao Felix spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan at Chelsea, and the Blues decided to sign him permanently last summer.
However, Felix has only made three starts in the Premier League this term. As a result, the Portuguese is looking for an exit tonight and could get one.
Milan are pushing to sign Felix and a move to the San Siro now seems very likely. Felix will be disappointed that he is leaving Chelsea so soon, even if it is just on a temporary basis, after being convinced that he would get a real opportunity under Enzo Maresca.

Joao Felix thought he would get chance at Chelsea
With Chelsea possessing the likes of Cole Palmer, Jadon Sancho and Noni Madueke, Felix always knew that he faced a difficult task breaking into Maresca’s starting XI.
However, in a pre-match press conference back in October, Felix predicted that it was “only a matter of time” before he got his chance and the opportunity to help his team.
“I knew the competition would be hard but I’m here to work,” Felix was quoted as saying by Chelsea’s official website. “I know what I can offer, what I can do and I think I can help the team.
“It’s only a matter of time and nothing will stop me achieving my dreams. I will always work hard when wearing the shirt and I think it’s only a matter of time before I help the team.”
Unfortunately for the former Atletico star, though, that forecast has just not come true.
Milan wanted to agree a deal to sign Felix yesterday, which did not happen. But it still looks like they will get their man.

Joao Felix set to join AC Milan
It is now being widely reported that Chelsea have accepted Milan’s loan offer for Felix.
The Portugal international should get the first-team football that he has been craving there, while the deal being a loan means that his Chelsea career may not necessarily be over.
Whatever the case, as of now, Chelsea signing Felix was a waste of everyone’s time. Chelsea would have been better off keeping Conor Gallagher, especially when you consider Romeo Lavia’s fitness record.
Of course, Felix’s switch to Stamford Bridge allowed Atletico to buy Gallagher in a move that saw Chelsea make pure profit on the England midfielder. That was the only reason Chelsea decided to sign Felix.
