Thomas Tuchel has today been confirmed as the new England manager, returning to the country after his very successful spell at Chelsea.

It has been claimed he was never wanting to leave the Blues, and will no doubt feel as if he has unfinished business in this country.

Not everyone was convinced the FA should have moved away from hiring an English manager for the role, with Gary Neville saying he was disappointed with the decision.

The recent set of English managers including Gareth Southgate have not been able to get the Three Lions over the line in a major tournament as of yet, and bringing in someone with the caliber of Tuchel is an exceptional hire.

It had been claimed from early that his staff would be made up of characters from both his time in club football and already with the England setup, however his assistant has already been confirmed.

Thomas Tuchel hiring Anthony Barry is already a great move

The FA announced that former Chelsea coach Anthony Barry will join the German in his role, and Blues fans will be more than aware of the quality he possesses.

Tuchel made it one of his priorities to bring Barry with him when he got the job at Bayern Munich, with a settlement eventually being reached with Chelsea.

Barry has previously been in the running for roles in management too. He reportedly rejected a move to take over at Portsmouth when he was at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea fans know how good Barry is

While the news of a new assistant manager may not be the first thing jumped on by England fans, Chelsea supporters will be over the moon that Barry is working alongside Tuchel in their quest for a major trophy.

Talk will soon talk to which players the duo coached at Chelsea will be featuring in his side going towards the next World Cup. There may be a slightly awkward reunion incoming with Levi Colwill, who seemed surplus to requirements under Tuchel.
