Todd Boehly gives six-word message that will win some Chelsea supporters over

Chelsea’s current ownership have received widespread criticism so far during its few years at Stamford Bridge, but they may start to feel vindicated with some of the recent success on the pitch.

The Chelsea owners completed their takeover of the club in 2022, stepping into the huge shoes of Roman Abramovich in West London.

It’s fair to highlight that the Blues project has been up and down in the last few years. In particular, some of the club’s wild transfer business has come under the spotlight from pundits and fans.

However, Enzo Maresca’s appointment as the head coach a year ago feels like it could be a bit of a turning point. He’s won two trophies during his first season in charge, the Club World Cup and the Conference League, while gelling together a very young squad.

Chelsea bosses are insisting that the players stay humble despite thrashing Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 to clinch the Club World Cup in style.

Chelsea fans will love Todd Boehly’s six-word message to them

During an interview with talkSPORT on Tuesday morning, Todd Boehly, the Chelsea co-owner, spoke about a number of topics, including the team’s recent success at the Club World Cup.

We expect that one answer from the American businessman will go down very well with the Blues fanbase.

When asked to give a message to the Chelsea fans, Boehly said: “Keep the blue flag flying high.”

It’s fair to say that Chelsea’s owners, including Boehly, have had a shaky relationship so far with supporters. Back in February 2022, some Chelsea fans even chanted they wanted Boehly out because of how the club was being run.

We suspect that the 51-year-old co-owner may win some fans around by using the club’s famous chant: keep the blue flag flying high. Most importantly, they are finally seeing a team move in the right direction as the vision slowly comes into focus.

The fact that Boehly, Behdad Eghbali and Jose E. Feliciano sign off key Chelsea decisions makes them accountable with supporters. For the ownership consortium, they must be praying they can bottle up this feel-good momentum and see it continue into next season.

Expectation for the 2025/26 season

It’s quite obvious that expectation and pressure will be lifted on Chelsea after the Club World Cup success, particularly because of the way they performed in the final against PSG.

During the talkSPORT interview, Boehly was asked about Chelsea’s approach going into next season. He responded: “I think the boys have shown that they are a force to be reckoned with, and I think that’s what we were hoping for.”

Alan Shearer thinks Chelsea can compete for the Premier League after taking giant strides forward.

Now that the ownership, manager and fans are all singing from the same hymn sheet, it feels like the 2025/26 campaign could be a special one.
