Nicolas Jackson stole all of the headlines after Chelsea’s 3-0 win against West Ham United on Saturday.

Nicolas Jackson scored twice and was the man who set up Cole Palmer for Chelsea‘s third.

Jackson set a Chelsea record with his brace, and his two finishes were excellent. The praise coming his way is certainly warranted.

However, former Chelsea player Jason Cundy has also been praising one of the 23-year-old’s teammates.

Jason Cundy impressed with Moises Caicedo’s performance against West Ham United

Since joining Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer, Moises Caicedo has come under a lot of scrutiny.

It is hardly a surprise. With a £100m-plus price tag, the pressure has been on him.

Cundy, though, thought the midfielder played well against West Ham and thinks he is starting to justify that large price tag.

Speaking on talkSPORT after the game, Cundy said: “I thought Caicedo was brilliant today [Saturday]. You are starting to see why we paid so much money. And it’s hard to live up to a £100 million-plus price tag because he is not that player that catches the eye.

“When you pay £100 million, you want to see like [Erling] Haaland, don’t you, Harry Kane, but actually today in the middle of the park, challenges, and the pass for Jackson was beautiful.”

Comparing Caicedo to N’Golo Kante, Chelsea fans were also clearly impressed with the 22-year-old’s display at the London Stadium.

Caicedo certainly did not disappoint in his side’s victory over the Hammers. While Jackson got the job done up front, Caicedo did his part in midfield and defensively.

As per Sofascore, the Ecuadorian won 10 out of the 12 ground duels he was involved in. His passing was also accurate, recording a pass success rate of 87%, while it was Caicedo who assisted Jackson’s second goal.

Ultimately, it was quite the complete midfield performance. Troy Deeney also feels that Caicedo is performing right now, saying as much after Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Bournemouth last weekend.

There is no denying that Chelsea spent huge money on Caicedo and probably did overpay. But if the Ecuador international keeps performing the way he has been, that will not matter to supporters.

Next up for the Blues in the Premier League is a home game against Caicedo’s former club Brighton. Before that, they face Barrow in the Carabao Cup.
