Three predictions for Chelsea vs Manchester United as Old Trafford rocked

Next up for Chelsea is a trip to Old Trafford to face a struggling Manchester United.

With just one win from four, pressure is mounting on Ruben Amorim. Chelsea will be going there to win following a disappointing midweek loss to Bayern Munich, and it’s a game that is sure to entertain.

Last season, this fixture ended 1-1 after Moises Caicedo cancelled out a Bruno Fernandes penalty.

The Chelsea Chronicle has three predictions for Saturday evening’s clash, one of which would send the United support into a frenzy.

Cole Palmer’s flying form continues

Much was made of Cole Palmer’s unwanted streak of no open-play goals since January.

He broke that last weekend with a fine goal against Brentford, and added an even better finish against Bayern during the week.

Palmer looks confident and dangerous, and he will be looking to keep up this rich vein of form against United, now that he has returned to full fitness.

Only three Premier League sides have conceded more than the Red Devils to start the season, so another Palmer masterclass is certainly possible.

One of Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo will be dropped

After the disappointing result in Chelsea’s Champions League opener, fans zoned in on the centre-back pairing of Tosin Adarabioyo and Trevoh Chalobah as the biggest issue to come from the night.

It’s not that they are bad defenders, but the pairing isn’t compatible.

Chalobah’s own goal may have rattled his confidence, so he could be the one to miss out.

The two defenders can be very rash and unsure in possession, which is fine if there is someone alongside them to settle things down. One of them will keep their spot, but not both.

Alejandro Garnacho will shock Old Trafford

It’s scripted.

If Alejandro Garnacho starts, as we predict, it just seems like the stars have aligned for the Argentinian to make a statement on his return.

Garnacho may have been problematic for United, but he always showed up in the big games. This will be as big a game as any for the 21-year-old, who has had to endure so much negativity coming from the opposing fanbase.

Given how Amorim’s side defended last weekend against Man City, there should be no shortage of chances for the Chelsea front line.

If Garnacho is involved, a goal against his former club feels very possible.
