What Enzo Maresca was shouting at Mykhailo Mudryk during Chelsea’s draw with Inter Milan

Enzo Maresca was very specific with his instructions for Mykhailo Mudryk in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Inter Milan on Sunday.

Mykhailo Mudryk started the game on the left and will now be hoping to be named in Enzo Maresca‘s first XI when Chelsea take on Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend.

It has been claimed that Arsenal are interested in Mykhailo Mudryk, but after featuring so heavily in the Blues’ pre-season, it would be a bit of a surprise if the club let him go this summer.

It is a big campaign coming up for Mudryk, though, who is still yet to live up to his huge price tag. The winger was only able to score five goals in 31 Premier League appearances last term.

Enzo Maresca’s instruction to Mykhailo Mudryk during Inter Milan draw

As mentioned earlier, Mudryk was playing in his preferred position on the left against Simone Inzaghi’s side at Stamford Bridge.

Maresca was keen for him to stay there, with the new Chelsea manager constantly shouting “Misha”, which is the player’s nickname, while pointing to the touchline, according to journalist Bobby Vincent.

There, Mudryk did look quite dangerous at times as he managed to dribble past Inter’s defenders. However, the Ukrainian’s end product was once again lacking.

Dribbling and pace remain his strengths, with Mudryk recently naming himself as the fastest player in Chelsea’s squad.

Joao Felix could replace Mykhailo Mudryk on the left wing

Right now, Mudryk is competing with Raheem Sterling for the spot on the left flank, but he could soon have to deal with more competition.

That is because Chelsea are in discussions to sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid after their deal for Samu Omorodion collapsed.

Felix‘s best position is just off the centre-forward, but the 24-year-old can also play on the left. To fit Felix into the side, Maresca may have to play him there, which could mean less opportunities for Mudryk this season.
