Things went from bad to worse as far as Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino are concerned when they fell to another defeat in the Premier League yesterday.

The Blues were beaten 2-0 by an Everton side who were hungrier and more determined to leave Goodison Park with all three points.

The result may end up actually being overshadowed though by the plethora of injury concerns that Chelsea left Merseyside with.

Reece James was again force off with what seems a hamstring problem, something that has continued to plague him in his career.

Pochettino also hinted that Marc Cucurella could be out for some time following his own injury problem in the second half.

The match was also the first sight Chelsea fans got of summer signing Djordje Petrovic, who replaced Robert Sanchez late in the second half.

Massive chance for Petrovic

It looked as if the Spaniard would be forced off against Manchester United due to injury, however the issue became too much for him to continue against Everton.

While it is currently unclear how long the former Brighton man is set to miss, although it could be a massive opportunity now for their reserve goalkeeper up to now to make his mark.

He has yet to have his opportunity to prove why he should be the number one at Stamford Bridge, although a match against Sheffield United at home is probably one of the more ideal scenarios to come into.

There has always been an element of doubt over Sanchez’s longevity as a starter, with his passing in particular bringing a real concern to supporters.

With Petrovic tipped for big things by those who know of his talents, this could be the start of a big change at Stamford Bridge.
