Chelsea brought in a plethora of new players over the summer transfer window in order to give new manager Enzo Maresca the best possible chance at instant success.
The new boss has managed those players well up to now, with many still waiting patiently in the wings for their real chance to impress in the Premier League.
A striker was one position they did not strengthen over the summer, despite reports strongly linking them to bringing one in.
Deadline day saw them pushing hard to complete the signing of Victor Osimhen, however the desire for it to be on their terms saw it eventually not be complete.
He wasn’t the only striker who was high on their agenda though, with them earlier in the window being strongly linked to the signing of Samu Omorodion.

Samu Omorodion scores four for Spain U21s
It was even claimed at a stage that the striker was set for a medical at Stamford Bridge, with the deal being done in clarity with Conor Gallagher going the other way.
They may well be regretting not signing Omorodion due to his excellent start to the season at new club Porto.
He carried on his great form in front of goal for Spain’s U21 side this week on international duty. He scored four goals.
They beat Malta 6-0, with Omorodion scoring four goals in the first half of the dominant victory.
Chelsea backing Nicolas Jackson
Chelsea decided that they were going to give their full backing to Nicolas Jackson to prove he can be the man to lead the line for years to come.
He has started the season very well, and his partnership with superstar Cole Palmer is proving to be a real asset for the Blues right now.
Christopher Nkunku has been pushing for a place in the starting side too, with him finding the net on a regular basis in his limited opportunities this season.
