Players who left Chelsea on a permanent basis over the summer have enjoyed mixed fortunes at their new clubs this season.

However, one player who has certainly gone on to be a success is Conor Gallagher, who made the move over the summer to Atletico Madrid.

It will not be a surprise to many Chelsea fans just how well he has started over in Spain. Most of them were not happy with the treatment he was given over the summer as he was forced out.

Conor Gallagher named Atletico Madrid’s Player of the Month

It was reported at the time that Atletico manager Diego Simeone was a huge fan of the player, with his qualities certainly fitting the mould of what it takes to be a top midfielder at his club.

This has been backed up by Gallagher’s excellent start to life for Atletico, recognised by the club with their September Player of the Month award.

The England international has been handed that honour, as he looks to continue to remind Chelsea of the quality he possesses.

The Blues will argue that their midfield has been performing at a high level without him. Moises Caicedo in particular has raised his game big time this season.

Argument for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to start vs Liverpool

There is also a much clearer path to first team minutes for Romeo Lavia, who impressed greatly when he started the first game of the season against Manchester City.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is also a player who manager Enzo Maresca is clearly a big fan of, and he has begun to make his mark in the Conference League in particular.

There is certainly an arguement that the Englishman should be considered for a start when the Blues are back in action on Sunday against Liverpool.

Fernandez and Caicedo will both be returning to training late due to their international involvement, and the up and down performances of the Argentine in particular could see Maresca take the risk and give him his first Premier League start.
