£50m Chelsea player is still worried about his place despite returning to training

With Chelsea not moving on every single player they would have hoped to over the summer, decisions have to be made by the likes of Enzo Maresca for the next few months at least.

This is despite selling or loaning out as many as 40 players from Stamford Bridge to other sides, including some of their nearest rivals.

The main example of this happening was in the form of Raheem Sterling, who this weekend made his debut for the new club Arsenal.

He was one of the two main experienced players who saw their desired place in the first team near enough vanish, with Ben Chilwell also suffering from the same fate.

This is despite the left-back being the vice-captain of the club just a few months ago.

Ben Chilwell still worried about his future at Chelsea

A recent report stated that due to the fact that he had not been sold, he had been handed the chance to compete for his place again in first team training.

However, this doesn’t seem to have done his mental position on things any good. According to the Mail Online, Chilwell is still really worried about the possibility of being sold when the transfer window opens again in January.

Marc Cucurella first choice left-back

It remains to be seen whether Chilwell can make some sort of dent into the Marc Cucurella monopoly of that side.

Another player who was signed for that position in the summer is Renato Veiga, with many already seeing the price they paid for him as an absolute bargain.

He started his first Premier League game on Saturday against Bournemouth, however was deployed in a central role rather than left-back.

This is likely due to injuries and illnesses that were affecting the midfield at the club in particular.

Enzo Fernandez, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Romeo Lavia were all missing at the weekend due to various issues, however were all spotted back in first team training this week ahead of the big London derby against West Ham.
