£75m forward Chelsea wanted to sign now ‘more settled’ after summer transfer interest

Chelsea may not find it easy to convince one of their summer targets to join them in the new year if they are still interested in him.

Chelsea fans will not be expecting the club to be too active in the January transfer window after a busy summer.

The Blues made more than 10 signings, bringing in the likes of Jadon Sancho, Joao Felix and Pedro Neto.

However, they did not sign a new centre-forward for the first team. It has not caused them too much damage so far this season, with Nicolas Jackson at the top of his game right now. Enzo Maresca is getting the best out of Jackson, according to Arsenal legend David Seaman.

Jhon Duran content at Aston Villa

Jhon Duran is one striker Chelsea wanted to sign during the summer. It has been claimed that Duran’s wages are what blocked a move.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will go back in for Duran in January or next summer, but if the Blues do, then they could have some persuading to do.

According to GiveMeSport, following Chelsea’s interest in Duran, the 20-year-old is now “more settled and content” at Villa Park.

The same outlet claims that his £40m price tag is likely to increase after his bright start to the season, while it has been reported elsewhere that Duran could cost up to £75m.

Chelsea face fight to sign Jhon Duran

Villa are in the Champions League and are currently above Chelsea in the Premier League table. There is no guarantee that the Blues will finish above them and qualify for Europe’s elite competition.

Chelsea cannot guarantee starts either. If Nicolas Jackson keeps playing the way he has been, then it is going to be hard for Maresca to drop him.

Chelsea may have to do a lot of sweet-talking to convince Duran to move to Stamford Bridge. The Colombian will not want to trade one bench for another.
