Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that he was so impressed yesterday with the performance of Cole Palmer.

He told beIN SPORTS that he is amazed at how the 21-year-old does not feel pressure, even in the biggest moments imaginable like yesterday.

Facing his former side for the first time at Stamford Bridge, Palmer was no doubt keen to let them know exactly what they had let go for a fee of just £45m.

He went about his business in his typically eccentric fashion, running the show from either the centre or the right of attack.

Just when it looked like the Blues were going to fall short in what had been a high-quality affair against Manchester City, Armando Broja went down in the area to win a penalty in added time.

For the fourth time this season, Palmer stepped up to convert from the spot, adding the champions to Arsenal and Tottenham as big sides he has found the net against.

Pochettino praises Palmer

His performance saw him come in for plenty of praise from pundits after the game, as he showed City they may have made a mistake selling him.

Another who was delighted with his display was Pochettino, who praised him in his post-match interview.

He said: “I think he’s shown since the day he arrived here – the pressure, he doesn’t feel it. I think his character and the talent he is showing is amazing. It’s very good for the team and I’m so happy for him.”

Palmer has made himself undroppable at Stamford Bridge, with him looking as if he is the best creative force the club have right now.

With goals starting to flow a little more freely right now, there is reason for optimism among the Chelsea fans going into the international break.
