Moises Caicedo has received many plaudits for his major role in beating Liverpool during Chelsea’s final match before the international break. Former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster has now made an intriguing comment about the Blues star, too.
Chelsea can now relax during the international window fresh off a 2-1 win against Liverpool, where Moises Caicedo continued his excellent form this season.
The 23-year-old central midfielder opened the scoring with a stunning effort, which was his third goal in seven league games. On top of that, he was defensively brilliant all over the pitch, something fans have become used to watching.
After the Blues beat Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, Jamie Redknapp’s verdict on Caicedo was that he’s as good as any other midfielder in the world right now.

Ben Foster claims Moises Caicedo has lived up to price tag
According to Ben Foster, Chelsea star Caicedo is one of only two players in the Premier League to live up to costing £100m or more.
Speaking on his own YouTube channel, Foster said: “Caicedo, fantastic. Worth every penny, I’d say… Do you know what’s interesting actually? Of the £100m players that have been bought in the Premier League, Caicedo is probably the only one really where you go, ‘Yeah, he’s worth that.’ Declan Rice is put up there as well.
“That player there (Caicedo), he is unreal. He is a dog. I think they are both worth it. You know what you are going to get from them, and they deliver every single time. Brilliant players.”
Caicedo is one of six players in history to be signed by a Premier League club for £100m or more. The others are Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea), Declan Rice (Arsenal), Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak (both Liverpool).
John Obi Mikel agrees Caicedo is worth every penny after costing Chelsea £115m (The Guardian), which was a record back in 2023.
It is quite telling that Gary Neville called Caicedo the Premier League’s best midfielder at this moment.

The Premier League’s top tackler
Caicedo’s game catches the eye for so many reasons, including tackling. As you can see below, the Ecuadorian powerhouse leads the tackling stat in the Premier League for the first seven gameweeks.
| Player | Club | Tackles |
| Moises Caicedo | Chelsea | 28 |
| Tyrick Mitcheel | Crystal Palace | 27 |
| Jurrien Timber | Arsenal | 25 |
| Joao Palhinha | Tottenham | 25 |
| Sean Longstaff | Leeds United | 23 |
Caicedo, who’s been compared to Chelsea great N’Golo Kante, does have a similarity with how he breaks up play.
The luxury for the Blues is that he very rarely puts in anything other than a strong performance with incredible consistency.
