Journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen has claimed that Chelsea are absolutely not out of the race to complete one transfer this month.

He took to Twitter to state that there is still a chance that they hijack the recently reported move from Brentford to sign Club Brugge youngster Antonio Nusa.

Nusa is a player the Blues have held interest in since last summer, when they saw a late attempt to bring him in pushed back last summer.

The player himself was admitted he was shocked at the fee that was bid for him, considering the fact that he is only 18.

Despite his young age, Nusa has already shown his immense potential, and exactly why a number of big teams are intrigued by signing him.

It was claimed yesterday though that Brentford had emerged from nowhere to be the side closest to completing a deal for the Norway international.

Chelsea could hijack Nusa deal

The reported package was in excess of £25m, however it is yet to get the signature Fabrizio Romano ‘here we go’.

Despite that, Calcoen has claimed that a deal is by no means done, with Chelsea still one of the sides lurking as developments play out.

He said: “Update on Nusa: in addition to Brentford, Tottenham, Chelsea and Newcastle are also lurking. Those clubs are not giving up, which is attractive for Club Brugge: the price will be above thirty million euros.”

Ever since Todd Boehly took over at Stamford Bridge, the Blues have not missed a trick when it comes to signing some of the top young talents in England.

This has seen them complete deals for the likes of Andrey Santos and Kendry Paez, with the latter being tipped for outrageous levels of success.

Therefore, it is safe to say that until the contract has been signed, you cannot count Chelsea out of the deal, especially considering the long-term admiration they have for the winger.
