Chelsea’s Pedro Neto continued his recent form by scoring for Portugal on Friday night against Poland.
Portugal thrashed Poland 5-1 at home yesterday in the Nations League. From a Chelsea perspective, they had three stars involved in the international fixture.
Pedro Neto started and scored for Roberto Martinez’s side. Meanwhile, Blues teammates Renato Veiga and Joao Felix also featured.
Behdad Eghbali pushed for Chelsea to sign Neto in the summer when he joined in a £54m deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Despite a slow start with the Blues, the 24-year-old winger is now finding his feet and playing some superb football.

Chelsea fans demand Pedro Neto plays on the right wing
Neto’s a versatile winger who’s played on both flanks this season for Chelsea, but many fans believe he belongs on the right after watching his Portugal performance versus Poland.
Here are Blues fans on X urging Enzo Maresca to play Neto on the right wing:
@alsydaniels wrote: “We need to play Neto on the right man.”
@RickyxLaw posted: “Neto. Wow. He has to start over Madueke on the right wing next weekend.”
@ThatMalayali claimed: “Goal for Pedro Neto. What a finish. Once again showing how much he can do from the right. It’s high time Enzo Maresca appreciates it and give him the opportunity he deserves to play in his preferred position.”
@iambeenji said: “When I see the off the ball runs from Neto for Portugal, that’s what I need from my RW! Neto is finally fit, his form is slowly coming back and what a strike with his right! Madueke really needs to step up now! Neto is coming for that RW spot.”
@kessler_rosler shared: “I repeat! Neto on the right!”
It’s very interesting that Micah Richards claimed Chelsea winger Neto is better from the right, so will that become his permanent position moving forward?
The recent trend has been Neto on the left and Noni Madueke on the right in the Blues XI, but there’s a strong case to be made that the Portuguese ace should be in his best role.
Pedro Neto dazzles against Poland
Yet again, Neto caught the eye on the football pitch with his pace, directness and skill.
The Chelsea ace scored his second ever Portugal goal in the Poland victory in sublime fashion, powering in an emphatic finish in the box on his weaker right foot.
Fotmob data has provided the individual statistics from Neto’s international display against Poland:
- Match rating – 8.6
- Minutes played – 84
- Goals – 1
- Total shots – 3
- Successful dribbles – 1/2 (50%)
- Touches – 74
- Accurate passes – 54/56 (96%)
- Chances created – 3
- Interceptions – 1
- Tackles won – 1/1 (100%)
If Neto keeps himself fit and continues like this, Chelsea may have landed themselves a superb summer signing.
Theo Walcott says Arsenal should’ve signed Neto, but he’s now blossoming on the blue side of London.
