A lot of Chelsea supporters wanted their club to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli during the summer transfer window.

With Victor Osimhen only joining Galatasaray on loan, there is still a possibility that the striker ends up at Stamford Bridge. In fact, it has been claimed that Chelsea could return for Osimhen next year.

However, it looks like some Chelsea fans are keen on another centre-forward after his latest performance for his country.

As well as Osimhen, the Blues were also linked with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Ivan Toney, but teenager Marc Guiu was the only No.9 who arrived through the door.

Chelsea fans want Viktor Gyokeres

Gyokeres was in sensational form for Sporting Lisbon last season, scoring an incredible 43 goals in 50 appearances.

Fast forward to now, and the 26-year-old looks just as sharp. He has already netted seven times for Sporting this term and managed to grab a brace for Sweden on Sunday in their 3-0 win against Estonia.

Chelsea fans are now urging their club to sign Gyokeres, with some preferring him over Osimhen.

One Chelsea supporter on X said: “If Chelsea don’t go all in for Gyokeres in January…”

Another posted: “I’m on the Gyokeres train. Osimhen can stay in Turkey.”

And finally, one Chelsea supporter went as far as to say: “Bring Viktor Gyokeres to the Bridge, man. He would be the perfect response to Haaland.”

Tottenham Hotspur were also interested in Gyokeres, but in the end neither the north London club nor Chelsea signed the Sweden international, with the former bringing in Dominic Solanke instead.

Should Chelsea target Viktor Gyokeres in January?

The worry with Gyokeres was the fact that last season was his first where he truly excelled in a top European league.

However, looking at his numbers from then and how he has started this campaign, the former Coventry City man surely has to be someone whom Chelsea consider now if they still want to sign another centre-forward.

It is hard to imagine Sporting letting their talisman go in the middle of the season, though, and Osimhen still appears to be the striker whom Chelsea want.

Despite everything that happened over the summer, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea still appreciate Osimhen.
