Jamie Vardy recently announced that he will be leaving Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Leicester City at the end of the season.

Of course, Leicester will not be Chelsea‘s Premier League rivals for much longer following their relegation to the Championship.

Vardy has only scored four goals against Chelsea in his career, but he is still a fantastic forward who really caught the eye of former Blues boss Jose Mourinho in 2015.

Back then, Mourinho highlighted Vardy’s pace and how it could benefit any top team in the world.

Raheem Sterling has won more penalties in the Premier League than Jamie Vardy

Vardy’s pace, his ability to get ahead of defenders, has helped him to win loads of penalties down the years.

In fact, according to Opta, there is only one player in Premier League history who has been awarded more spot kicks than the 38-year-old: Raheem Sterling.

Sterling, who is currently on loan at Arsenal, has won 26 in his Premier League career, while Vardy has been responsible for his team winning 25.

Like Vardy, Sterling could also join a new club this summer. The winger is surplus to requirements at Chelsea, and Sterling moving to Leeds United is something Paul Merson would now like to see.

Daniel Farke needs reinforcements following his side’s promotion back to the top flight. While there is nothing to suggest that they are currently interested in Sterling, Leeds have been linked with Djordje Petrovic, who is also on Chelsea’s books.

Sterling’s move to west London has been far from a success, hence why Chelsea had no issue with allowing him to join their rivals Arsenal last summer.

Enzo Maresca rules out Jamie Vardy move

There is little chance of Sterling being at Chelsea next season and the same applies to Vardy.

Despite his availability and relationship with Enzo Maresca, the Italian has ruled out making a move for his former player.

When asked if Chelsea had any interest in Vardy in his recent pre-match press conference, which has been shared by the Premier League’s official website, Maresca said: “I spoke with Jamie yesterday, so not about Chelsea. Not about Chelsea, I spoke yesterday with him and I said, football needs people like him, so for sure he will be involved in football.”

The Blues could do with the arrival of a new centre-forward, but Vardy is not an option for them it seems.
