Reports have claimed that Chelsea had second thoughts over signing one player during the January window who they had previously really wanted.

According to HLN, the Blues decided not to get involved after what was described as ‘sporting doubts’ of Antonio Nusa over in Belgium.

Chelsea were very keen on a move to sign Nusa before this season started, with him being one of the many young stars in world football they were keen to bring in.

It is reported that they made their biggest approach on deadline day, however the deal eventually did not go through.

The player later came out and said that he was stunned at the bid, believed to be around £25m, that came in for him at this stage of his career.

January saw a number of clubs from the Premier League register interest in the attacker, however Chelsea were never really mentioned at the front of the queue for his signature.

In fact, it was London rivals Brentford who confirmed a deal for the player, coming out of nowhere amongst some seriously big names.

His move collapsed though, with a reported injury cropping up during his medical process stopping him making the move to England.

It has now been claimed that he is focusing on his recovery, and proving sides like Chelsea wrong after they elected not to really move for him in January.

His age makes him a very attractive figure for the coming seasons if he continues to show signs that he will become as good as it seems.

With Chelsea’s interest now stemming back two transfer windows, it is clear to see that they will at least be sniffing about when he eventually moves on from Club Brugge.

Todd Boehly’s obsession with adding the best young players in the world will always keep them interested in deals like this one.
