In the days following Enzo Maresca’s departure from Chelsea, we are sure to find out more about the exact reasons.
While it’s never a massive shock to see Chelsea make a sudden managerial change, the abruptness of Maresca’s exit is interesting.
Maresca agreed to leave Chelsea, but it’s not like he had much of a say.
He wasn’t afforded the chance to turn around a string of bad results, and it seems one decision made by the Italian on Tuesday played a part in his swift exit.
What would you make of this, Chelsea fans?🤔
Chelsea think Enzo Maresca was disrespectful in avoiding his media duties
Maresca won’t have known that the game against Bournemouth would be his last in the Chelsea dugout, but he might have had a feeling.
Whatever his thought process, not showing up to the post-match press conference was not a good look.

As Kieran Gill writes for the Daily Mail: “When Maresca refused to speak to the media after Tuesday’s disappointing 2-2 draw with Bournemouth – citing an illness which Chelsea insiders have now told us did not exist – he had his assistant, Willy Caballero, conduct interviews instead.
“Sources say they found unprofessional, disrespectful and unfair on Caballero, who had to tell fibs for his colleague’s benefit.”
From the moment we heard about his supposed illness, there was a feeling that something bigger was at play.
Maresca wasn’t interested in facing his media duties, and the club might have seen that as the last straw.
Maresca’s Chelsea end less than he deserved
As much as it was a bad move to lie his way out of the press conference, it is a pity how Maresca’s Chelsea spell has ended.
There are plenty of good memories from a season-and-a-half under the Italian, which should be what he is remembered for rather than the unceremonious end of the past few days.
Trophies have been harder for Chelsea to come by in modern times, so to win two in a debut season is an achievement that shouldn’t be overshadowed by off-pitch drama.
Many Chelsea fans aren’t impressed by the Maresca sacking. Some will be glad to see the back of him.
Maresca leaves at the halfway point 👋
What should expectations now be for the end of the season?
One thing that should be unanimous among supporters of the West London side is a feeling of gratitude for what he did during his time at Stamford Bridge.
