Enzo Maresca became the first manager since Pep Guardiola to win his opening three Premier League away matches on Saturday afternoon, as Chelsea defeated West Ham 3-0 at London Stadium.
Hammers fans had barely taken their seats by the time Nicolas Jackson handed Chelsea a third-minute lead, after breaking free of his markers to smartly slot the ball home from a tight angle.
He added a second goal in the 17th minute, racing through on goal after a pass by Moises Caicedo, before beautifully curling the ball past Alphonse Areola with the outside of his boot. In doing so, Jackson surpassed a former Champions League winner’s goal tally for the West London club.
The win was all but wrapped up moments after the second-half got underway, as Jackson turned provider this time, playing Cole Palmer through on goal – who did what he does best and found the back of the net.
The win was Chelsea’s third in a row away from home in the Premier League this season, and bodes well for the upcoming visit of high-flying Brighton next weekend.
Here then, is how West Ham United vs Chelsea unfolded on a memorable afternoon for the Blues.
That’s all for today
Thanks for joining us this afternoon for our live coverage of Chelsea’s superb 3-0 win against West Ham United.
Next up for Enzo Maresca’s side is Barrow in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

[Link]Maresca ‘very happy’ with win
Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, the Chelsea boss stated: “They [West Ham] are a very good team, they have some fantastic players, but overall I think we deserved to win the game.
He added that he is most happy with “Nicolas [Jackson] and Cole [Palmer], because the way we prepared was to set them against three players. [They scored] the goals but especially the work off the ball.”

Pundit impressed by £100k-a-week Chelsea star
One of Chelsea’s defenders really caught the eye this afternoon.
[Link]Palmer – Jackson is a top player
Palmer and Jackson spoke to TNT Sports after the final whistle, with the Englishman saying that the London Stadium is “a tough place to come”.
“A good three points, we are happy.
“Everybody knows he [Nicolas Jackson] is a top player – he needs to keep going. The Chelsea fans and players rate him highly – we know what he is capable of.
“There will always be noise, we try to block it out and listen to the manager. We have a good manager and it can only help us to get better.”
[Link]Chelsea move up to second
Doesn’t look too bad, does it?
It might not last very long, with Liverpool and Newcastle kicking off shortly, but the Blues do sit in second place for the time being.
Jackson hits club milestone

[Link]Man of the Match – Nicolas Jackson
“He [Jackson] kept spinning and running in behind,” Dean Ashton says of the Chelsea forward on TalkSPORT.
“Jackson showed lots of composure today.”

FULL-TIME – West Ham 0-3 Chelsea
It’s a dominant victory for the Blues!
They move into the top four as Maresca becomes the first manager since Pep Guardiola to win his first three away matches in the Premier League.

[Link]Felix goes close!
His shot is just wide of the post after another dangerous break from Chelsea.
[Link]Yellow card – Carlos Soler
Soler makes a poor challenge on Cucurella that could have badly hurt his fellow Spaniard.
[Link]Yellow card – Max Kilman
The Hammers defender is the latest player to go into the referee’s book.
[Link]Flying save denies Chelsea a fourth goal
Nkunku has a free header from five yards out, but it’s somehow saved by Areola.
The Frenchman will be kicking himself after that effort.
There are now just 15 minutes left to play.
[Link]Jackson benched after brilliant brace
The striker is replaced by Nkunku, but make no mistake – he was the difference-maker for Chelsea today.
After all the calls for Nkunku to start ahead of him in the week, Jackson has responded today with two goals and an assist.
A terrific display.

Madueke chance!
He races through on goal on the counter, but his shot is a poor one and is saved by Areola.
Madueke probably should have squared it to Palmer, who was free inside the box.
[Link]West Ham threaten
Kudus again is the danger-man for the hosts, who gets to the byline and whips in a teasing cross.
Antonio can’t quite connect to poke the ball home, as Disasi does well to clear his lines.
We’re now at the hour mark.
[Link]West Ham substitutions
OFF – Edson Alvarez, Crysencio Summerville
ON – Carlos Soler, Michail Antonio
Boos ring out around London Stadium as Summerville is taken off…
[Link]Yellow card – Edson Alvarez
The West Ham midfielder is booked for hacking down Palmer after the kick-off.
[Link]GOAL! West Ham 0-3 Chelsea (Palmer, 46′)
It’s Cole Palmer from another blistering Chelsea break.
Jackson picks out Palmer’s forward run, who thrashes the ball past Areola into the near-corner of the net.
Game, set and match?
[Link]Watch – Jackson strikes early
Here’s how Chelsea took the lead today after just a few minutes.
HALF-TIME – West Ham 0-2 Chelsea
It’s a great half for Chelsea, who lead 2-0 at the break.
They’ve had to ride their luck a bit at times today though.
[Link]Yellow card – Wesley Fofana
The Chelsea defender is penalised for pulling back Summerville in an odd case of deja vu.
[Link]Sanchez saves from Soucek
It’s brilliant work from Kudus out wide, who eventually cuts the ball into the Chelsea box.
The ball is deflected into the path of Soucek, who’s tame shot is easily dealt with by Sanchez.
Chelsea could do with some sustained possession here, as the half-time break approaches.
[Link]West Ham Substitution
It’s a very early tactical change from the hosts.
OFF – Guido Rodriguez
ON – Tomas Soucek
[Link]West Ham goal ruled out
It’s another let off for the visitors.
A great Hammers move ends with Kudus slotting the ball past Sanchez, but he’s clearly offside.
The ref then books Lopetegui for his protestations.
[Link]NO PENALTY
Well, that’s a bit of a surprise.
It looked almost certain as if West Ham would be awarded the penalty, but the referee hasn’t been referred to the monitor.
Chelsea will be relieved, but Lopetegui is livid.
[Link]West Ham penalty appeal
Summerville appears to have been pulled back by Chelsea’s Fofana.
The VAR officials are now reviewing it…
[Link]Bowen fires high and wide
The forward threatens with a couple of dangerous corners, before managing to find some space inside the Chelsea box.
His shot is high, wide and not very handsome.
We’ve just hit the 25 minute mark at London Stadium.
[Link]GOAL! West Ham United 0-2 Chelsea (Jackson, 17′)
He’s done it again! Caicedo plays Jackson through on goal, who beautifully whips it past Areola from just inside the penalty area.
It’s ‘shambolic’ defending from West Ham, says Ashton on commentary.
Chelsea won’t care one bit, however…
[Link]West Ham wasteful so far
The Hammers have gotten into some nice areas, but have failed to apply the final touches to their moves.
Paqueta sums up their efforts so far, after driving a free-kick from a dangerous position straight into the wall.
[Link]GOAL! West Ham 0-1 Chelsea (Jackson, 3′)
Sancho is involved again, playing a forward pass to Jackson, who bursts into the West Ham box and slots the ball past Areola from a narrow angle.
What a start for the visitors!

“They’ll be delighted with the points they’ve picked up, but the performances can improve.”
[Link]Sancho earns first Premier League start
In case you missed the team news earlier, Jadon Sancho is set to make his first start for Chelsea this afternoon.
The winger, who joined on loan from Manchester United, had a fantastic cameo last weekend against Bournemouth – where he picked up his first assist for the club.

Lopetegui’s record vs Chelsea
The West Ham boss has a mixed record against Chelsea, having won two of his six meetings with the club.
This includes a 2-1 win as manager of Porto in the 2015/16 Champions League, and most recently, a 1-0 victory in April 2023 as Wolves boss.

West Ham, meanwhile, could only manage a draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage, with a 95th-minute equaliser from Danny Ings earning the side a vital point last weekend.
