It’s looking increasingly likely that Chelsea prospect Shumaira Mheuka could be enjoying a breakout year.
Shumaira Mheuka, who’s aged 17, joined Chelsea in 2022 after starting out at Brighton. He’s been making a name for himself in the Blues academy ever since.
However, it does feel like something has clicked for the teenage centre-forward during the opening months of the 2025/26 season.
Mheuka, who’s highly rated by Romeo Lavia, can’t stop scoring right now.

Shumaira Mheuka bags another two goals for England U19s
On Saturday morning, England and Spain played out an entertaining 3-3 draw in an Under-19 international friendly.
Chelsea talent Mheuka scored a fabulous individual goal in the 21st minute, tucking the ball into the bottom corner to finish a great move. Afterwards, he doubled his advantage early in the second period when he converted a penalty kick.
It’s now three goals in two matches for England’s U19s in this international break. That follows five goals in four games for Chelsea’s U21s so far this campaign across all competitions.
Mheuka is making a real statement this season with eight goals in six fixtures for club and country.
The calls for him to be included in the first-team picture will only grow louder as he continues to score every week, regardless of the competition or opposition. Even though he made five senior appearances for the Blues last term, the 17-year-old is still waiting for that breakthrough moment.
Mheuka loved being around Chelsea’s first team last season, and we hope it’s only the start.

Chelsea may be one injury away from needing Shumaira Mheuka
Liam Delap’s hamstring injury resulted in Chelsea recalling Marc Guiu from his Sunderland loan to support Joao Pedro for the No.9 position. If there are any more injuries at the top end of the pitch, Blues head coach Enzo Maresca may be forced to turn to his academy because the transfer window is closed.
It’s an extremely busy schedule post-international break for Chelsea, playing seven matches in 22 days across all competitions.
We hope that Mheuka will get a chance to play in Chelsea’s first team on 23 September for the away trip to Lincoln City in the third round of the Carabao Cup. Maresca would be wise to get another look at him because the youngster is a star in the making and may be needed if another injury strikes.
