One of the most drawn out transfer sagas in Chelsea’s recent history finally came to an end this summer.

Conor Gallagher was seemingly out of the plans at Stamford Bridge for a number of months, despite the fact he was picking up regular minutes under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Blues signed Joao Felix in exchange for the England international from Atletico Madrid, as they look to build a side they think suit their new manager’s style of play.

Enzo Maresca operates in a very different way to how Pochettino did, and therefore some of the profiles needed at Stamford Bridge are different.

Despite the club clearly not seeing it this way, Gallagher has stated that he believes he doesn’t think it is true.

He told the Evening Standard: “I don’t think that’s true personally. I think last season I had a good season with Chelsea as you could see by Mauricio Pochettino playing me every game. The fans appreciated what I did too.”

Chelsea may not be missing Gallagher as much as people will have expected. A statistic from the early stages of this season suggests they are not struggling to win the ball back in the middle of the park.

Atletico fans are delighted to have him though, with their supporters going crazy when Gallagher was unveiled as a new player for their club.

Romeo Lavia looking for regular minutes

Romeo Lavia is showing all the signs that he can take the role of being a first team midfielder, however will be praying that his injury woes start to leave him alone.

There is positivity that he can be involved when the Blues are back in action against Bournemouth, and the positive reaction Chelsea fans had to that news suggests they know just how important he can be for them.

Gallagher has the opportunity to link up again with some former Chelsea teammates on international duty in the form of Levi Colwill and Noni Madueke.
