Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge have been fortunate to witness a number of top players in their recent history.

For a club that has won every trophy possible in the 21st century, there are always going to be some players who stand out amongst the rest.

At the minute, Cole Palmer is one of those who has everyone talking. Jamie Carragher named Palmer as the best player in the Premier League after his excellent start to the current campaign.

Supporters and pundits have been comparing the England international to some of the Stamford Bridge greats, with there even being questions asked about his ability in comparison to Eden Hazard.

The Belgian was arguably the best player in England across his seven years at the club, and he was the key man in two separate Premier League-winning campaigns.

Danny Welbeck names Eden Hazard as best ever opponent

Dominic Solanke named Hazard as the most talented player he played with during their time together at Chelsea, and it seems opposition players are equally aware of his quality.

Current Brighton striker Danny Welbeck said in an interview with the PFA that the winger was the best opponent he ever came up against.

He said: “Eden Hazard at Chelsea was a disgrace!”

What is Eden Hazard up to now?

Injuries and lack of gametime quickly hit Hazard when he left Chelsea for his dream move to Real Madrid.

This forced him into an early retirement at the age of 32, although should not takeaway from his career, particularly his time at Stamford Bridge.

He recently took part alongside fellow Chelsea legends Didier Drogba and Ricardo Carvalho in a charity match where more defensive-minded players took on a line-up of attacking stars.

The Belgian continues to be an inspiration to some of Chelsea’s newest players too. Pedro Neto named Hazard as an inspiration when he joined the Blues this summer.

While Palmer has been setting the world alight in West London recently, he has a long way to go before he reaches the long-term levels of Hazard.
