There’s a lot to be positive about right now as a Chelsea fan with the progress of the team, but do they still need one or two more quality additions to push them to the next level?

Chelsea appear to be moving in the right direction this season under Enzo Maresca’s management. So far, the Blues are playing some eye-catching football, which has put them third in the Premier League table.

Stephen Warnock thinks Chelsea need another two signings before they’re ready to compete at the summit of the Premier League. He suggests that they should go sign world-class players in the goalkeeper and centre-back position.

Darren Bent suggests Caoimhin Kelleher for Chelsea

According to talkSPORT pundit Darren Bent, Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher could be a great transfer signing for Chelsea.

There’s weekly question marks around Blues keeper Robert Sanchez this season, while Kelleher is shining as Alisson Becker’s understudy at Liverpool.

Bent told talkSPORT: “Kelleher is now a very good goalkeeper. He’s 25, it’s time now, let’s get going now. I think there’s an opportunity there. I’m not convinced on [Robert] Sanchez, if I’m honest. He makes some unbelievable saves, but him (Kelleher) going in there at £35m, that’s not even a risk.”

The Kelleher conversation has come about after recent transfer speculation.

Chelsea are plotting a potential swoop for Liverpool goalkeeper Kelleher because he doesn’t want to return to the bench at Anfield. Apparently, the Republic of Ireland shot-stopper could be available for around £35m.

However, there’s been conflicting reports from journalist Fabrizio Romano on X suggesting that Chelsea aren’t in the market for Kelleher.

Robert Sanchez inconsistency means the goalkeeper conversation won’t stop

Unfortunately, Sanchez is a hot topic for discussion this season at Chelsea. It’s the opposite of what you want from your goalkeeper.

It would be great for the Spanish gloveman to enjoy an extended run of quiet games where he’s out of the spotlight, but he’s got a tendency to throw in a silly mistake from time to time.

Rob Green has noticed Chelsea fans get nervous with Sanchez, especially when he’s got the ball with his feet. It’s a key area of the keeper’s game in Maresca’s current system, though.

Until the individual errors go away, Sanchez can expect the same kind of heavy scrutiny.
