Chelsea have just been linked with a potential transfer raid on their Premier League rivals for an international star next summer.
There’s been so much investment that’s gone into assembling the talented and young Chelsea squad. However, do the Blues still need more individuals to bridge the gap to the elite teams?
Stephen Warnock claims Chelsea need two more world-class signings in order to force their way back into the Premier League title race. Apparently, Enzo Maresca’s side still needs to add a new goalkeeper and experienced centre-back.

Chelsea eye move for Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher
According to The Sun, Chelsea are planning a potential swoop for Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher in 2025.
It is understood that the 25-year-old goalkeeper is set to leave the Merseyside giants at the end of the season because he’ll be demoted to third choice in-between the sticks behind Alisson Becker and Giorgi Mamardashvili.
The report says that the Republic of Ireland international doesn’t want to be sitting on the Reds bench in the future.
Chelsea are believed to be tracking Kelleher as they search the market for a top keeper. It is explained that Liverpool wouldn’t be overly keen on selling such a good player to a league rival, but they may be stuck if the Blues meet his £35m transfer valuation.
In addition, Chelsea face rival interest from Napoli and Juventus to sign the Liverpool gloveman. They have an advantage that the Irishman would prefer to stay in the Premier League, though.
Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has been error-prone this season, so it makes sense that the club may be looking elsewhere for upgrades.
Would Caoimhin Kelleher be a good signing for Chelsea?
Kelleher has emerged as one of the very best number two goalkeepers in the business during recent years. However, he’s definitely ready to come forward from the shadows to start consistently for a big club.
The shot-stopper has played 34 games across all competitions since the start of last season for Liverpool, where he’s covered superbly well for Alisson.
Steve McManaman described Liverpool’s Kelleher as “outstanding” last month via TNT Sports.
On paper, Kelleher ticks every box as a modern keeper for his calmness on the ball and his general all-round goalkeeping. If Chelsea can make this deal happen, it could be a very shrewd bit of business for £35m.
Interestingly, Jason Cundy recently suggested Chelsea should sign Kelleher, so let’s see if the Blues recruiters step up their interest in 2025.
