Alejandro Garnacho will be a huge talking point when Chelsea visit Manchester United for their next game in the Premier League. Therefore, it’s fascinating to hear Blues head coach Enzo Maresca suggest that the 21-year-old winger could be in line for his first start at his new club.

Even though Alejandro Garnacho went from the academy to the first team at Man Utd, we suspect he will receive a frosty reception when he returns to Old Trafford.

Chelsea paid £40m in the summer to sign Garnacho from Man Utd (BBC). On paper, it looks like it could be a shrewd piece of business for a skilful attacker with lots of potential.

Enzo Maresca claims Alejandro Garnacho is ready to start for Chelsea

Blues head coach Enzo Maresca has shared in his Friday’s pre-match press conference for the Man Utd trip that Garnacho is ready to make his first-ever Chelsea start.

When discussing Argentine winger Garnacho, Maresca said via Football.London: “In the last two games, he was very good when he came on. So we are happy with the way he has adapted to our style and what we want from the winger. I think he is ready to start.”

Maresca has hinted at the possibility of Garnacho starting this weekend’s showdown at Old Trafford. In fairness, the rapid left-winger was included in Chelsea’s predicted line-up to face Man Utd.

Garnacho has come off the bench for cameos against Brentford (Premier League) and Bayern Munich (Champions League) in the last week, showing plenty of positivity and directness in his limited minutes.

It feels like the left wing spot is very much up for grabs right now, especially because new signing Jamie Gittens has made a slow start, so Garnacho could get the chance to make a real statement in Manchester. We’re sure that he will be more motivated than anyone to impress against his former club, too.

Even though fans have doubts, Paul Scholes predicted Garnacho would do well at Chelsea.

What Alejandro Garnacho said after defeat to Bayern Munich

After his midweek performance off the bench in the Champions League, Garnacho reacted to the 3-1 loss away to Bayern.

Speaking via Chelsea’s official website, Garnacho said: We will learn from this defeat. I think we did a good game, but Bayern Munich are a strong team and were at home.

“I think it’s just the first game, that’s how we look at it. You always want to win, but it’s a long season and we have a lot of games [left] to qualify. The next two games [in the Champions League] are at home, so we have to take the full six points and keep working hard for our goals.”

Let’s hope that Chelsea and Garnacho are ready to bounce back in style this weekend against an out of form Man Utd outfit.
