Chelsea and Arsenal could find themselves going after the same player in the new year.
The two London clubs are both having good campaigns, especially Chelsea after a couple of disappointing seasons.
Chelsea and Arsenal currently find themselves in the top four, with the former above the latter on goals for.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 1 | 12 | 10 | 1 | 1 | 24 | 8 | 16 | 31 | |

| 4 | 12 | 6 | 4 | 2 | 21 | 12 | 9 | 22 |
Going forward, though, both clubs will probably need to strengthen their forward lines if they want to win the Premier League title. Chelsea have been linked with Viktor Gyokeres, as well as Alexander Isak.

Gabriel Agbonlahor thinks Alexander Isak suits Arsenal
While Chelsea are thought to have an interest in Isak, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor thinks the Newcastle United star suits Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side because of their style of play.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor said: “They [Newcastle fans] know that Isak will want to move to a bigger club. They know that Isak does not want to be out of Europe.
“He wants to be playing in the Champions League. He’s got the potential… I think he suits Arsenal the way they play.”
It has been claimed that Isak has already been the subject of enquiries from Chelsea, while Arsenal are also said to be keen on the Swede.
What has Eddie Howe said about Alexander Isak’s future?
Isak has a contract at Newcastle until 2028. Even so, the Magpies have been trying to give him a new one.
However, Eddie Howe has described contract talks with the 25-year-old and his future as a “complex situation”.
Speaking before Newcastle’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League last month, Howe told BBC Sport and other outlets: “That’s a slightly more complex situation. Regarding contracts, I’m not involved in those discussions day to day.
“With Alex, he’s got a long contract anyway at the football club and we have to be really careful with our spending due to profit and sustainability rules (PSR). It’s not a clear-cut situation.”
In terms of numbers, Chelsea do not have too many centre-forward options in their squad. Christopher Nkunku is not a natural No.9, while 18-year-old Marc Guiu has not always been part of the Chelsea first team this season.
It means that Nicolas Jackson is the only recognised striker at Chelsea who gets picked for the matchday squad each week.
Because of his form, though, the Blues probably do not need a forward as high profile as Isak to come in. Rather, signing a young striker who is willing to deputise seems more sensible.
Jackson has scored seven goals in 12 Premier League appearances this season, three more than what Isak has managed at Newcastle.
