Chelsea would need to cough up a sizeable package if they want Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi to be their next manager.
That is according to a report this week from The Telegraph.
For now, Mauricio Pochettino is still in his position as Chelsea head coach. There’s plenty of speculation around his possible exit, though.
Journalist Simon Phillips recently shared via Substack that Chelsea still plan to see through the rest of the season with Pochettino but more bad results could change that.
In addition, several managers are now linked in the media as potential targets, including Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi.
The Guardian just claimed that Chelsea are considering hiring De Zerbi as their next manager if they decide to sack Pochettino as the current boss. Also, the Blues plan to wait until the summer before reviewing Pochettino’s position at Stamford Bridge.

The Telegraph now reports that it would cost at least £12 million in compensation for clubs to take De Zerbi away from Brighton in the summer.
Apparently, Manchester United are among the clubs that are looking at Brighton’s 44-year-old highly-rated manager.
Any club that wants the Italian coach needs to pay upwards of £12m, though.
Speaking via Luton Today back in August, Luton Town boss Rob Edwards described Premier League counterpart De Zerbi as “excellent”.
De Zerbi has done a really positive job at Brighton since joining them a couple of years ago, implementing his possession-based style of football and taking them to Europe.
We’ve got doubt that the young manager is the right fit to come in and save the mess at Chelsea.
For now, the focus is still around Pochettino trying to turn things around for himself and the team.
