Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo and Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard could clash on the pitch later today.

Chelsea take on Arsenal in a London derby at Stamford Bridge, with both teams hoping to end the weekend in the top four.

Moises Caicedo and Leandro Trossard know each other well after playing together at Brighton & Hove Albion, and the latter has been speaking about his former teammate.

The 23-year-old is one of the most in-form midfielders in the Premier League at the moment, though Darren Bent would not take Caicedo over Ryan Gravenberch.

Right now, there may not actually be a better midfielder in England than Caicedo, with the Ecuadorian really thriving at Chelsea.

In fact, former Arsenal player Adrian Clarke believes that Caicedo is the best player in his position in the English top flight.

Trossard is not actually surprised to see Caicedo doing what he is doing, realising as soon as he met him that he would go on to become a top player at a top club.

“He’s definitely a top player,” Trossard was quoted as saying by The Guardian. “I saw straight away when he came into the team at Brighton that he could be a big player for a big team.

“At the start that was hard but maybe because of the situation at Chelsea. But now he is having a bigger role and bigger impact.”

Caicedo put in some truly impressive numbers in his final season at Brighton. It is no surprise that Trossard had a lot of confidence in the Ecuador international after watching what he could do first-hand.

For example, during the 2022/23 campaign, Caicedo made the second most amount of tackles and the second most amount of interceptions in the Premier League.

Ultimately, Caicedo always had the tools needed to become an elite ball-winning midfielder at a big club, and he has proven to be just that this term.

Caicedo will be tasked with trying to stop Trossard and Arsenal’s other attackers this afternoon. Do that, and the former will probably not have too many doubters left.

He is now starting to justify his gigantic transfer fee and wages. Caicedo currently earns £150,000 a week at Chelsea, according to Spotrac.
