Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has been speaking after his side’s win against Leicester City over the weekend.

Chelsea beat Leicester 2-1 at the King Power Stadium, with Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez both scoring for the visitors.

Marc Cucurella started the game at left-back and almost helped his side to keep a clean sheet. However, a late foul by Romeo Lavia saw Leicester win a penalty, which Jordan Ayew managed to dispatch.

Cucurella is really enjoying his football right now, according to former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy, and the left-back also seems to be bringing much joy to his supporters.

Marc Cucurella’s relationship with Chelsea supporters

It has taken time, but Cucurella now seems to have a really good relationship with Chelsea fans.

After the full-time whistle at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, the away supporters gave the 26-year-old a tremendous reception.

Speaking after the game, Cucurella said: “The fans sing my song, it’s very special. I work hard to have these moments. The fans believe in me so I’m very happy.

“We came from tough times. We are in a good way. We need to keep going. We cannot relax.”

Cucurella has been in undroppable form this season and is now easily one of Enzo Maresca‘s most important players.

Marc Cucurella busy against Leicester

Overall, Chelsea’s defence did not have too much work to do in their victory over Leicester.

The Blues absolutely dominated the match and limited the amount of opportunities the home side had.

As usual, though, Cucurella found himself in the thick of things. His presence was felt both in defence and attack.

For example, the Spaniard made three tackles but also recorded one key pass. These days, he looks like the complete full-back.

It is a shame that Reece James keeps getting injured. Alongside Cucurella, Chelsea would probably have one of the best full-back pairings in the Premier League.

It will now be interesting to see what happens with the Chelsea captain. Following his latest hamstring injury, it has been claimed that Chelsea could put James up for sale next summer. As for Cucurella, though, he is indispensable at this moment in time.
