Moises Caicedo now shares what his relationship with Mauricio Pochettino is actually like at Chelsea

Chelsea star Moises Caicedo has given an insight into what his relationship is actually like with Mauricio Pochettino.

Moises Caicedo, who’s just 22, became the most expensive player in Premier League history back in the summer. The Blues paid Brighton a mammoth £115million transfer fee (Sky Sports) to bring the midfielder to Stamford Bridge.

It’s no real surprise that the record signing is a nailed-on starter under Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

However, the youngster’s definitely still fighting to reach his best form this season. Journalist Simon Phillips even reported via his Substack this week that Chelsea owners think Caicedo has underperformed so far since his summer arrival.

Patience at Chelsea

Caicedo has shared that he’s actually got a really positive bond with the Chelsea manager already. He explains that there’s a trust in his ability and that he’ll come good in West London.

When asked about his relationship with Pochettino, Caicedo told Sky Sports: “We have a good relationship. He has protected me [from criticism]. He’s been really kind with me. He’s been patient with me. He knows who I am that’s why he’s relaxed with me.”

We’re very much in the camp that Caicedo’s too good of a player not to start shining in a Chelsea shirt.

It’s yet another example above of a Chelsea player publicly backing the Argentine boss, who arrived at the club with a glowing reputation as a great man-manager.

TalkSPORT recently claimed that Chelsea’s squad still has huge faith in Pochettino and back him to turn things around after an inconsistent first half of the season.

We feel like the form of Caicedo in the centre of the park will be pivotal in a U-turn.

If the Blues are to start winning and controlling more games, they need to strike that right balance in midfield.

We’re wondering if Chelsea will get more out of Caicedo if they move him from a defensive midfielder into a roaming box-to-box midfielder, where he can maximise his energy and running power. Could that result in Enzo Fernandez dropping a bit deeper in midfield?
