Nicolas Jackson shares one thing he absolutely loves doing on the pitch for Chelsea

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is quite an exciting attacker and has shown that since arriving at the club from Villarreal.

It is true, Nicolas Jackson may not be the most clinical centre-forward in the Premier League. Jackson’s finishing has already been criticised by Jamie O’Hara this season.

However, the 23-year-old still does a lot of impressive stuff on the pitch and did manage to score 17 goals last term.

He has now been speaking about one of his favourite tricks, one that Chelsea fans get to see quite often.

Backheel king Nicolas Jackson

Jackson has admitted that he loves a backheel, scoring with one during the 2023/24 season after deciding to redirect a Cole Palmer shot.

In a video shared by Chelsea’s official Instagram account, the Senegalese forward said: “I think Cole shot the ball, but I knew it was not going in. So I had to flick it with the backheel and it was an amazing goal.

“I love to do backheels a lot. If you watch me, you’ll see a lot of backheels in the game.”

Another thing that Jackson is good at is making runs, that is according to former Arsenal striker Alan Smith, who spoke about his off-the-ball movement during Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Bournemouth over the weekend.

Nicolas Jackson an enjoyable footballer to watch

Jackson’s backheels and dribbling make him the kind of player you pay to watch.

As per FBref, Jackson is in the 88th percentile for successful take-ons among forwards over the last year.

Ultimately, the Senegal international’s overall game is pretty good. Again, where he needs to improve is in front of goal.

If Jackson can do that and become a more clinical finisher, then Chelsea will probably have one of the best strikers in Europe.

The former Villarreal man is only 23 so has time to do that. Of course, the Blues signing a new centre-forward in January could impact his development.

Chelsea’s interest in Victor Osimhen remains, so there is always a possibility that they try to sign him again in the new year. But as for now, there is not too much that can get in the way of Jackson’s development at Stamford Bridge.
