Peter Crouch has been discussing Robert Sanchez following Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Everton on Saturday.
Sanchez has come in for a lot of criticism this season but put in one of his best performances in a Chelsea shirt this weekend.
Without him, the Blues probably would have dropped points against the Toffees at a stage of the season where they cannot afford to.

Everton’s No.1 Jordan Pickford praised Sanchez after the game, and Crouch also had some positive things to say about the 27-year-old.

Peter Crouch thinks Robert Sanchez can be Chelsea’s No.1
Sanchez was a bit nervy early into Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Fulham last weekend.
In fact, in the opening minutes, Levi Colwill had to signal to Sanchez to keep the ball on the ground after he lofted one awkward pass towards him.
However, the Spaniard put in a much more confident performance at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, which did not go unnoticed. Following that display, Crouch has now claimed that he can be Chelsea’s long-term No.1.
Discussing one save that Sanchez made during the match on TNT Sports, the former Liverpool and England striker said: “I don’t think Beto can do a lot more. It’s right in the corner, and it’s a magnificent save. Today was Sanchez’s day. You did watch him grow in confidence. At corners, the free kicks, the crosses, they were coming under pressure, and he came out and claimed them.
“He’s definitely got the ability to be the No.1 goalkeeper here, it’s just about the confidence. He got man of the match today, and the fans have acknowledged the fact that he’s made some mistakes, but today he’s won them three points.”
Chelsea have some big decisions to make this summer, with the Blues having a bunch of goalkeepers on their books.
The above includes Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is currently at Bournemouth on loan. It is being reported that Kepa is keen to stay at Bournemouth, so sorting out his future may be a bit more straightforward compared to the likes of Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen.

Chelsea fans will want Robert Sanchez replaced and may get their wish
After all of the high-profile mistakes that Sanchez has made this term, Crouch’s claim is quite a controversial one and one a lot of Chelsea fans will disagree with.
Plenty of Blues supporters will want the club to sign a new No.1 this summer, which is a possibility.
Chelsea are interested in Diogo Costa, for example, but Manchester City may beat their Premier League rivals to his signature.
It has been claimed that Costa has already said yes to joining City in a blow to Chelsea.
